    What to Expect

    A one-way desert crossing linking Morocco’s two great cities, taking in the High Atlas, Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate and the Erg Chebbi dunes.

    After a night in the desert, travel on to Fes through the Ziz Valley, the cedar forests of Azrou and the alpine town of Ifrane.

    Itinerary

    3 days Sahara trip from Marrakech to Fes

    Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ouarzazate – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)

    Early pick-up from Marrakech and a drive over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with stops for the High Atlas scenery and Berber villages. Visit Ait Ben Haddou (UNESCO) and Ouarzazate with its Taourirt Kasbah.

    Continue through the Skoura palm grove and the Dades and Todra valleys to Merzouga. Ride a camel about 1.5 hours into the Erg Chebbi dunes for sunset and optional sandboarding, then reach camp for mint tea, dinner, Berber music and an overnight stay under the stars.

    Day 2: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes

    After sunrise and breakfast, return by camel or 4×4 and travel north towards Fes through the Ziz Valley and its palm groves, crossing the Middle Atlas with a lunch stop in Midelt.

    Visit the cedar forest near Azrou to see wild Barbary macaques and the alpine town of Ifrane, the Switzerland of Morocco, before arriving in Fes in the late afternoon.
